Michigan Department of Transportation
The Michigan Department of Transportation owns and operates the American portion of the Blue Water Bridge and falls under the Metro Region Maintenance Division of the Bureau of Highway Technical Services. Call (810) 984-3131
Canadian Food Inspection Agency
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency, which reports to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, is responsible for the administration and enforcement of several food and livestock related Acts. Canada Border Services Agency
The Canada Border Services Agency is responsible for monitoring and controlling the movement of people and goods into and out of Canada. These services are provided at the Blue Water Bridge 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For more information on the Agency and Customs regulations.
NEXUSNEXUS is a joint program that has been implemented with the co-operation of the Canadian and American Governments and is now being expanded nationally. As low-risk, pre-approved travellers, NEXUS participants will enjoy a simplified entry process into both Canada and the U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Canada
Immigration services at the Sarnia Blue Water Bridge are provided by Citizenship and Immigration Canada staff located at the Bridge facilities. Immigration Canada is responsible for the application of the Immigration Act. This includes facilitating entry (for example, qualified N.A.F.T.A. applicants and visitors to Canada) and the protection of Canadian society from those who are criminally inadmissible. In addition to these services, the Sarnia Blue Water Bridge C.I.C. is responsible for the provision of Immigration enforcement for Sarnia and Lambton County. Canadian customs brokers clear commercial goods through Customs on behalf of the importer. In Canada, customs brokers are licenced and regulated by the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.
